2022 CONFERENCE FOR COACHES
On March 12, 2022 The Rape Foundation’s Men’s Leadership Council (MLC) hosted our sixth annual Conference for Coaches virtually.
Coaches are among the most important mentors and role models in a young athlete’s life. The conference speakers provided tools and strategies to help coaches meet the unique challenges of their role, including: (1) creating a culture of belonging in which every student athlete feels safe and supported; (2) enhancing team members’ capacity to form and sustain healthy relationships; (3) nurturing empathy, collaboration, and social responsibility among players; (4) teaching youth to successfully navigate life’s challenges; and (5) responding to the unique and ever changing impacts of COVID-19. COACH STEVE KERR, COACH BRANDON STALEY and MARCELLUS WILEY shared personal experiences illustrating how their coaches, and their experiences coaching, have impacted their lives. Our featured partners and trainers were JOE EHRMANN and JODY REDMAN, co-founders of INSIDEOUT INITIATIVE.
Over 400 coaches from schools throughout California registered for this virtual event. Comments from attendees included “Always inspiring,” “Amazing as a first time Attendee,” “Always my favorite conference,” “Outstanding presentations.” Our Conference sponsors included UCLA Health, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers, The Angell Foundation, Positive Coaching Alliance, CIF State, CIF City Section, CIF Southern Section and LA84.
The MLC sponsors educational initiatives for boys and men that build character and foster social responsibility.
